Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about our small engine repair services.

1. What types of equipment do you repair?

Sandy River Small Engine Repair works on a wide range of small engine equipment, including chainsaws, lawn mowers, weed trimmers, ATVs, and more. We also service commercial small engine equipment such as commercial lawn mowers and zero-turn mowers. If it has a small engine, there’s a good chance we can help get it running properly again.

2. Do you work on both residential and commercial equipment?

Yes. We help anyone with small engine equipment, whether you’re a homeowner, landscaper, business owner, farmer, or property manager. If it has a small engine and we’re able to help, we’ll do our best to get it repaired and running the way it should.

3. Do customers need an appointment, or can they drop equipment off anytime?

Appointments are the best option because shop availability can vary. However, we do our best to work with each customer’s schedule. If you need to drop equipment off while we’re away from the shop, that can usually be arranged as long as you contact us ahead of time. We’re happy to coordinate a drop-off time that works as conveniently as possible.

4. Do you offer pickup and delivery?

Yes. Local pickup and delivery are available. Pickup and delivery are free within a 15-mile radius. For locations outside of that area, additional fees may apply depending on distance and equipment type. Please call, text, or email us to make arrangements, and we’ll do our best to work something out that fits your needs.

5. Do you provide estimates before doing repairs?

Yes. We inspect the equipment first and let you know what repairs are recommended before any work is performed. Customer approval is important to us, so we will not move forward with repairs until we have your authorization.

If you choose not to proceed with the repair after diagnostics have been completed, a diagnostic fee may apply. In cases where we identify a major safety or mechanical concern and the recommended repair is declined, we may ask you to sign a waiver acknowledging that you understand the risks of continuing to use the equipment without that repair.

6. How long does a repair usually take?

Repair time depends on several factors, including parts availability, the extent of the repair, the season, and current workload. We always do our best to complete repairs as quickly as possible while still doing the job right, so you can get back to mowing, blowing, trimming, and using your equipment with confidence.

7. Do you offer tune-ups or seasonal maintenance?

Yes. We offer tune-ups and seasonal maintenance to help keep your equipment in top running shape. Whether you’re getting your mower ready for spring, preparing your snow blower for winter, or just want to make sure your small engine equipment is running properly, we can inspect it, service it, and help prevent problems before they leave you stuck.

8. What is typically included in a tune-up?

A typical tune-up includes an oil and filter change, checking and filling fluids to the proper level, replacing the fuel filter and spark plug as needed, and completing a full inspection of the equipment. Service and tune-ups go hand in hand, and our goal is to make sure your equipment is running properly, safely, and reliably.

9. Do you sharpen mower blades or chainsaw chains?

Yes. We offer sharpening for mower blades and chainsaw chains when possible. In some cases, blades or chains may be too worn or damaged and replacement may be the better option. If that happens, we’ll be upfront with you and explain the recommendation before doing any work.

10. What brands do you service?

We service all brands of small engine equipment. If it has a small engine, Sandy River Small Engine Repair is here to help. Some parts may be harder to find depending on the brand, model, or age of the equipment, but we will always be upfront and transparent with you about parts availability, repair options, and expected costs before moving forward.
